At Clarice House, we pride ourselves on being able to offer excellent quality food.
Our restaurant is fully licensed, and with a frequently changing menu is the perfect place for a lunchtime snack, business lunch or a romantic dinner.

To Start

freshly made soup with a hunk of bread

slow-roast belly of pork with bacon and cabbage, calvados and bramley drizzle*

cassoulet of borlotti beans and roast garlic, on malted wheat toast
glazed with gruyere cheese* V

risotto of wild mushrooms, with or without poached wood pigeon, fresh parmesan*V

salad of melon, orange and grapefruit, macerated with mint, passion fruit dressing V

our own “gin & tonic” soused salmon, potato blinis, horseradish foam*

grazing platter of antipasti, olives and pickles, with or without cured meats*V

tagliatelle of wild boar meatballs, crisp-fried sage*

Main course

confit of organic salmon, with crushed potatoes and peas, pickled cucumber,
and a le puy lentil dressing

corn-fed chicken caeser salad with crisp pancetta, parmesan tuiles and marinated anchovies

poached and roasted partridge with a hotchpotch of autumn vegetables,
and black pudding dumplings

a “pizza” of roasted ratatouille, fresh tomato sauce, bococcini mozzarella
and a basil and parmesan pesto V

whole Mersea lobster sprinkled with gremolata, baby leaf salad, Clarice chips and a tartare salsa

Maldon herd pave steak with roasted vine cherry tomatoes, fondant potatoes, mushroom and herb gateau, and a chilli and onion jam

carved rump of Dedham vale lamb with dauphinoise potatoes croustade, squash puree, elderberry & port jus

tarte tatin of confit red onion, glazed goats cheese crotin, savoury poached pear, with a walnut and roast beetroot salad V


To finish

blackberry and apple crumble, vanilla pod ice cream

a trifle of strawberries and champagne

an autumn apple mousse with a salad of toasted cider apples

lemon custard tart with fresh late season raspberries

a menu of teas and coffees is available to choose from, as well as an extensive range of liqueurs and spirits

As far as is possible we source our ingredients from local producers and suppliers who work closely with us as we strive to bring you the very best seasonal fare. This may occasionally result in an ingredient being unavailable, or not of sufficient quality, and we hope that you would be understanding should this occur. The staff would also be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the local artisans that provide us with our ingredients. Thank you.

mature English cheddar ploughman’s with apple, red onion relish, and salad leaves

oak smoked salmon, caramelised onion hummus and rocket

local cured ham with tomato chutney

roast beef, horseradish mayonnaise and rocket

our own corned beef with stilton dressing, and salad leaves
